Julie Bindel wrote an article in the Guardian  to explain her reasons for going to and enjoying a Snoop Dog concert.

What interests me is her willingness to explain it as “art” so easily, as an excuse to like something, which should, one would think, go against her principle grain of politics.
If we take her explanation (at least her beginning of the explanation as to why she likes Snoop Dog – it does change at the end of the article) – it’s pretty feeble and lame – she likes the rhythm/beat and is apparently able to separate that from the lyrics!!!! Pure genius and amazing auditory capabilities – or is that selective hearing???
Does she really know anything about the history of hiphop? Well I didn’t until a few moments ago and a friend of mine explained it up very well here.

But art comes in many forms and not just musical or lyrical – in many instances it is an object or painting, a sculpture or textile that we admire and categorize as art. Art is very much in the eye or ear of the beholder it is also something which is “objectified” we look at art objects and admire them and the artist that created them. Plus we tend to look at the art object/painting/sculpture or the music/lyrics/literature etc not as one single aesthetic function but as a “whole”. It is a complete experience for the participant.

Yet Julie and others regard sex workers (the focus is mainly on female sex workers) as objects and many regard women in the sex industry as being objectified by men.
So Julie has crossed the hypocritical line and said it is art – and that is apparently acceptable to her, and her reasons are justified for going to this specific concert (of course she could have chosen many artists to visit and listen to at Glastonbury – but she choose Snoop Dog – her choice), then surely if there is going to be a play on words and explanations then can sex workers describe themselves as artists?

Many sex workers do regard themselves as such, they are moving sensuous beings that fulfil many roles and not as an object of art, that only fulfils one aesthetic function, the sex worker can be a inclusive experience for the participant, very much a full artistic immersion for that participant.

I came back recently from a long weekend spent in one of the most gorgeous places in Scotland. I had such a fantastic time. I was fortunate enough to visit some places very few people manage to get to, unless they hike for quite some time.

It was beautiful, relaxing and of course also physically stimulating as I managed to get in some walking, so I could really appreciate my luxurious surroundings – I have to say I was in awe of nature and its many facets.

I often wonder how many people have the opportunity to get out, and away from their desks or whatever type of job they have, to be able to see such beauty (I am aware Scotland isn’t the only beauty spot, the world is full of magnificent places). It’s great to see walkers about and enjoy it all, cars passing on route to their very own special vacation spot, hopefully with some midge repellent handy. But  it is a great place to visit, not just for the scenery but also because there is quite a bit to do as well.

The  Golf Open will be here very soon, and if the weather keeps up it will be a great time for the players as well as the spectators.

The Highlands  are a fantastic place to go, where you can have a holiday as relaxing as you want it, or as active as you can, with mountain biking in any of the 7stanes routes being really popular – and yes I have tried it, and lived to tell the tale. There is also canoeing as well as fishing .

Anyway, I have just realised I sound like a tour operator, but I guess I am still chilled from my own short break away, plus it’s getting to that time of year when most of us think on destinations abroad, well for me, I think I will visit some lovely remote spots in Scotland again.

Now that I have started a blog, I was also thinking about blogs in general, specifically the sex blogs, which I have come across that have impressed me for a variety of reasons. Mainly the ones that I am attracted to contain intelligent writing or descriptions, ones that have made me think and ponder on my own view points or experiences, and some that I have found to be quite hot indeed.

There are so many sex blogs out there now; it seems to have become a hobby for some to discuss all aspects of their sex lives. I am not interested in this, and I certainly won’t recount mine (what’s the point – it’s all been done before by many, some good, some bad). But what does fascinate me is what is in the mind of the sex blogger, what their opinions are about sex or their bodies etc.

One of the first sex blogs that I ever came across was by TBK author of The Beautiful Kind. The TBK blog discusses sex, in many of its varieties, and gives an honest open account of her experiences, and there is also a thriving TBK community where many share their experiences and comment on others. TBK was recently sacked from her job due to the fact that she wrote a sex blog, and her site was down temporarily due to this, but it’s all back to normal again. I like this blog for its honesty, its simplicity, and just coz its dam interesting.

Furry Girl; all silky sex appeal

I also had the great pleasure of reading Furry Girl  – and it was a great eye opener, reflecting many of my sentiments, both voiced, and those that I had not yet found the words to voice. Furry Girl is one of the most intelligent sex bloggers out there, she discusses feminism and what it isn’t, Feminisnt. I regarded myself as a strong feminist many years ago, but soon saw it stagnate when it became very anti-male, but thankfully it has matured and is less anti-male and I hope now it’s more pro-person.

Furry Girl is a sex worker, porn star, activist with a big difference; she is all natural, with silky fur under her arms and a silky purse, which she is very proud of. This is unusual only by the fact that it isn’t “fashionable” to have so much silky sex appeal, but there are other sex workers out there that are also proud to display their silky fur.

 There is one lady in Glasgow, Discreet Katie,  that I am aware of, that is all “European” in her outlook to bodily hair. I think this is amazingly excellent and refreshing. Many years ago I was very much the same, but have gone the opposite way, and have sported being totally shaven to now settling for a Brazilian, which I think, for me, does look better.
What I like about Furry Girls blogs is her intelligence, her activism for sex workers and sex issues. She states that her blog is about her “observations as a politically-minded smut peddler, ethical slut, and staunch skeptic”. It’s a fantastic read; I do hope that you like it as much as I have.

Before Orgasm

Yup, there are many more blogs that I have looked into and do like, but the next one is a bit different from the two above, coz it is about the journey of a couple and their sexual experiences, it is the Awsomenesandthegoodgirl. The two main characters, “B” and “Missy”, are in a committed relationship with one another. He is the Dom and she is a sub who has embarked on an “awesome” journey of sexual discovery. B is a fantastic writer, quite poetic in his outlook and obvious love for Missy, and she writes much more directly, and with the self-confident honesty of what she does for B, by simply illustrating her love and commitment to their relationship by her actions. Again, I have enjoyed having a look into their sexual journey; it’s been fascinating as well as quite hot.

This is probably enough of other blogs at the moment, but there are more that I have come across that I have found to be a great wealth of information, as well as intriguing.
